Frequently Asked Questions

What is a Bracesox™ Undersleeve?

A Bracesox™ is a soft, supple sleeve to wear under orthopedic bracing to make wearing the brace more comfortable by preventing chaffing, and wicking moisture, and to help keep the brace in place.

How does Bracesox™ compare?

Often imitated. Never duplicated

What color choices do I have?
Supplex and Cotton come in black. PowerDry comes in light grey.

What if I'm not quite sure of my size?
Click here to view our sizing chart. It is best to go with the lower size if you are not sure where you fall in the size chart. The BRACESOX™ has a 120 percent stretch. If the sleeve is too big it will migrate and bunch up.

How do you wear a BRACESOX™?
Inside-out! The BRACESOX™ for the knee is to be worn with the seam to the OUTSIDE of the leg so that the smooth seam is against the skin. Pull the sleeve on, stretching it all the way up the leg to the groin. Strap on your brace then fold the top of the BRACESOX™ over the top of the brace. There should be about 3-4 inches to fold over. This keeps the brace and sleeve in place and keeps the inside of your unbraced leg from getting chaffed. There should be about 1-2 inches left at the bottom. If you are wearing this with a post op brace there may only be an inch to fold over.

Should I choose Supplex, Cotton or PowerDry?

Cotton/Lycra (90% cotton/10% Lycra)

This is always a popular choice.  Cotton is breathable and absorbs moisture.  The fabric wears well and keeps its shape due to the high Lycra content.  Cotton/Lycra is a great choice for year-round "breathing" and is a good choice for hot, dry climates. Black only.*

Supplex/Lycra (86% Supplex/14%lycra)

Slightly heavier fabric than our cotton/lycra blend. This fabric allows for a comfortable fit with excellent stretch, recovery and durability.  This material is slightly sueded (also known as brushing).  The sueding helps aide in moisture management.  The slight loft that the sueded material provides helps to wick moisture away from the skin aiding in evaporation.  We recommend this fabric blend for brace patients that are wearing their brace for many hours in a day (like Osteoarthritis brace patients). It is a great choice, for either Athletic or Osteoarthritis patients due to the moisture management. Black only.*

PowerDry (90% polyester, 10% spandex)

PowerDry is our light-weight moisture wicking material.  Like all wicking materials, PowerDry moves moisture away from the skin into the loft of the fabric where moisture can be evaporated quicker.  This leaves the skin comfortable and cool.  Great choice for brace patients that live in humid parts of the world. Light grey only*

*Due to different yarn and dye lots there may be slight texture and color variations.

How long has the BRACESOX™ been around?
The BRACESOX™ company was founded in 1990 by Anne Adams, an orthopedic brace patient. Anne has worn a brace for over 20 years. BRACESOX™ now supplies the majority of the top knee brace manufactures worldwide.

The Bracesox™ line of products has been designed with the end user in mind. The proprietor is an orthopedic patient herself having used knee, wrist and ankle bracing on a continuous basis, since 1980. She has intimate knowledge of the specific needs of such patients and each product is designed for a specific brace application with the ultimate goal: to increase brace comfort.

BRACESOX™, The Original has been a brace patient's best choice for comfort since 1991. The product line continues to improve through constant research & development and customer feedback. All products are designed to alleviate the problems associated with the use of prescriptive and non-prescriptive bracing systems.

Will my insurance cover this?
The majority of insurance companies will cover the BRACESOX™. If you would like your insurance to cover the BRACESOX™ you will need your doctor to submit the order on your behalf, as we do not do insurance billing.  Ask your doctor about your coverage. Download this PDF to take to your doctor.

What are the wash and care instructions?
Wash your BRACESOX™ in cold or warm water, tumble or hang dry. No bleach.

How many Bracesox™ should I buy?
That depends on how much you like to do laundry. Remember, they are SOX. The easiest way to make sure you have a clean one is to get at least a pair. Those that wear their brace daily usually have a few on hand. Remember, I wear a brace too. I also know the value of having more than one on hand! I like to have at least one on and one in the wash.

Can I return my Bracesox™?
Yes, within 10 days of your purchase. Please read our Return Policy.

We received them in Tuesday's mail (great service, by the way, thank you) and he wore one yesterday with his brace. He had been having problems with chaffing from the brace and said yesterday he had no problems at ...
